This position offers a unique opportunity to lead the accounting functions while ensuring the firms financial health and alignment with its business objectives. The VP of Accounting will collaborate closely with senior leadership and other key stakeholders to manage the firms accounting operations, drive financial performance, and ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting. Key Responsibilities:
Lead the firms accounting strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, growth plans, and investment strategies.
Provide strategic accounting insights to senior leadership and stakeholders, aiding in decision-making and long-term business planning.
Oversee the development and execution of accounting policies, procedures, and financial reporting frameworks.
Supervise the accounting team to ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, reports, and disclosures in compliance with GAAP and other applicable standards.
Ensure proper management of financial records, including overseeing accounts payable, receivable, and reconciliation processes.
Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the firms financial assets.
Oversee the accounting processes related to the firms investments, including portfolio valuations, performance measurement, and investor reporting.
Ensure accurate and efficient fund accounting for the firms investment vehicles, including private equity funds, hedge funds, and other managed assets.
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including SEC, IRS, and other regulatory bodies, and manage the firms interactions with auditors and regulatory authorities.
Oversee tax reporting and planning activities, ensuring tax efficiency across the firms operations and investments.
Develop and implement financial risk management strategies, including monitoring market risks, currency exposure, and credit risks.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development.
Support investor relations efforts by providing accurate financial reports, performance data, and insights to current and prospective investors.
Lead initiatives to implement new accounting software, financial tools, or practices that enhance the firms operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA or CPA is highly preferred.
5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably within the asset management or financial services industry.
Deep understanding of investment accounting, financial reporting, GAAP, and regulatory compliance in the asset management industry. Knowledge of fund structures (e.g., private equity, hedge funds, mutual funds) is essential.
Proven experience managing and developing high-performing teams and working collaboratively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
Experience with accounting and financial reporting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Yardi, or similar platforms), and advanced proficiency with Excel and financial modeling tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders, including senior executives, investors, and board members.
