We have an opening at our Canton office. The role of an Accounting Manager requires a Bachelor’s degree, in accounting. Mid-level management experience required. Must have experience with accounting operations and reporting. Responsibilities include recording, classifying, examining, and analyzing fiscal transactions. This position leads the month end closing process and will prepare the monthly financial reports for the Controller’s review. Must have knowledge of general ledger and subsidiary ledgers. This position will manage the workflow for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll. (ADP experience is required).



The annual salary for Accounting Manager is $82,000.

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to use critical thinking skills in evaluating, analyzing and problem solving issues.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare necessary reports with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work and make independent decisions that follow recognized and credible accounting practices (GAAP) that meet regulations and supports the business when possible.
  • Thorough knowledge of ADP software payroll processing and reporting.
  • Organizational skills necessary to achieve promptness in meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to rank order numerous projects and deadlines.
  • A thorough understanding of computerized accounting systems, subsidiary ledgers, and the relationship among the various components of the general ledger.
  • Expertise with MS Office, to include advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to operate ten key-by-touch.
  • Ability to flex schedule to accommodate an occasional need to work weekend or evening hours.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to interact with staff, clients, vendors, administration, and the community both in person and on the telephone.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

Prepare monthly financial statements, analyze results and report results to Controller and Executive Director. Work directly with the staff accountants to make sure the monthly financials are consistent with GAAP.

Produce and manage balance sheet including reconciliations and analysis with little supervision.

Review accounts payable and purchasing activities to ensure proper coding to the correct general ledger accounts and departments.


Manage monthly and weekly billings and monitor claim denials. This requires basic knowledge of OHCA and DMH fee for service billings.

Assist with preparations for external audits including direct interaction with auditors to answer questions and provide required schedules and analysis.

Provide backup coverage for the Controller in his/her absence.

Communicate directly with Controller on daily accounting issues and concerns.

Assist Controller with the preparation of the annual budgets including all program breakouts.

Delegate accounting tasks to junior accounting staff.

Understand the basics of all Agency Contracts and include the activity in month-end reporting.

Calculate bi-weekly payroll including working with ADP, resolving all issues, and ensuring internal and external reporting accuracy, requiring some evening and weekend work.

Work with the Controller to ensure all 403(b) reporting and 403(b) audits are processed timely.

Support and promote a service environment for individuals in need of behavioral health and/or co-occurring services that is recovery focused, welcoming, and attentive to the needs of the individuals who may have experienced trauma in their lives.

Practice and promote the Sanctuary model seven commitments: nonviolence, emotional intelligence, social learning, open communication, social responsibility, democracy and growth and change.

Must be able to travel, when necessary, and provide own transportation.
