FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Front Office Lead/Hospital Manager
Location: Redlands, CA
Pay: $16.00-$22.00/hour (Based on experience)
Full Time; Three 12 hour shifts; Swing shifts (10 am - 10 pm) - Any day Sunday- Monday
Summary:
A Receptionist is responsible for answering calls, checking in patients, answering any questions people have when they contact the hospital. A Receptionist’s also schedules appointments and registers new patients. The Receptionist is the first point of contact to the clients representing EPHR. The receptionist sets the first impression tone for our clients visit. Additional Receptionist’s duties include coordinating front-desk activities, including distributing correspondence and redirecting phone calls to best serve our clients/patients. A receptionist’s duties and responsibilities are to ensure the front desk welcomes guests positively and executes all administrative tasks to the highest quality standards.
Essential Functions:
- Greet and welcome guests as soon as they arrive at the office
- Check in/Input clients/patients in to the EMR system
- Accepts initial consultation payments
- Direct visitors to the appropriate person and office
- Answer, screen, and forward incoming phone calls
- Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationery and material (e.g., pens, forms, and brochures)
- Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email
- Receive, sort, and distribute daily mail/deliveries
- Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk (monitor logbook, issue visitor badges)
- Order front office supplies and keep inventory of stock
- Update calendars and schedule meetings
- Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, and faxing
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education:
- High school diploma
- Additional knowledge/certification in Office Management is a plus
Qualifications/Experience:
- Proven work experience as a Receptionist, Front Office Representative, or similar role
- Love for all animals and a passion for their well-being.
- Professional curiosity and willingness to learn veterinary medicine
- Top notch communication skills, both written and verbal
- Computer Savvy
- Positive attitude
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Flexible - must be able to work all shifts, including nights and weekends.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a temperature-controlled medical clinic environment. The employee may be exposed to mild X-ray radiation and infectious animal diseases such as parvovirus, hookworm, roundworm, salmonella, and giardia can be passed from dog to human through licking. Exposure to high noise levels due to barking dogs and machinery. Potential for being bitten or scratched while tending to animals. Physical Demands:
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. The employee is required to sit and use both hands for typing for extended periods of time; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl periodically. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
