Job Description
Summary of Responsibilities: A Controls Engineer will assist in the electrical and mechanical integration of robotic and mechanical loading and unloading systems to CNC machine tools. This position involves assembling and integrating in-house custom-designed loading, unloading, and parts handling systems, including switches, PLCs, solenoid valves, and electric or pneumatic cylinders/actuators to CNC machine tools. The key responsibilities and skills required for success include:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with electrical and mechanical system integration for CNC machines.
  • Develop and implement control logic for robotic/mechanical systems.
  • Assemble and install custom automated systems.
  • Create electrical drawings and wiring schematics.
  • Write controls specifications defining scope and I/O requirements.
  • Debug and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and PMC programs.
  • Support system integration on the customer floor and provide field startup/debug support.
  • Conduct customer training sessions.
  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot robot controllers and electrical devices.
  • Ensure compliance with system specifications and project timelines.
Additional Functions:
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Support demonstration systems for trade shows and customer presentations.
Qualifications & Competencies:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in system engineering, design, or material handling, with a focus on automation/robotics.
  • Experience with electrical drawing development and reading mechanical prints.
  • Proficiency with PLC programming software (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens).
  • Experience with FANUC Ladder-III PMC, ROBOGuide Simulation, and AutoCAD/SolidWorks.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and technical aptitude.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 80%.
Preferred Experience:
  • Familiarity with CNC machines and robot programming.
  • Basic understanding of Okuma and Fanuc CNC controls.
  • Experience with material handling, assembly, welding, or similar robotic applications.
