*Position Overview*
The Infection Control Nurse (ICN) works closely with Infectious Disease Medical Staff and the Infection Control Manager to manage, prevent, and control infections. The ICN conducts surveillance, investigates outbreaks, develops policies, and educates staff and patients to ensure a safe healthcare environment.
*Key Responsibilities* * Monitor and report hospital-acquired infections. * Investigate infection clusters and environmental microbiological issues. * Develop and revise infection control policies based on data and guidelines. * Provide infection-related education for staff and patients. * Collaborate with public health agencies and other departments to ensure compliance with infection prevention standards. * Participate in applied research and process improvement initiatives.
*Qualifications* * *Education:* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. * *Experience:* - 5 years of Acute Care Nursing, Epidemiology, or Infection Prevention - 2+ years in Infection Control * *Licensure:* - Active RN license in South Carolina. - Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or ability to obtain within 2 years * *Skills:* Proficient in EPIC or similar healthcare databases and data abstraction.
