DESCRIPTION
Here at Amazon, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of diversity and inclusion of our teams within the organization.
How do you get items to customers quickly, cost-effectively, and most importantly, safely, in less than an hour? Our teams of scientists, engineers, aerospace professionals, and futurists have been working hard to do just that! We are delivering to customers and are excited for what's to come. If you are seeking an iterative environment where you can drive innovation, apply state-of-the-art technologies to solve real-world delivery challenges, and provide benefits to customers, Prime Air is the place for you.
Come work on the Amazon Prime Air Team!
Prime Air is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design and develop power electronics hardware and related electrical power systems for Prime Air Drones. This includes battery chargers, DC-DC converters, DC-AC inverters, Motor Controllers, and power distribution systems. In this role, you will be working with our Seattle-based team to deploy new hardware and electrical power systems for Prime Air Drones. You will work with internal and external vendors to support hardware development, manufacturing, and testing. You will also support other ongoing development and testing efforts for the Drone.
Key job responsibilities The ideal candidate will help the team in the following ways: Design, develop, and test Battery Management System (BMS) hardware for Li-ion batteries. Design and test other analog/digital device components such as inverters, battery chargers, DC-DC converters, and protection circuitry. Perform electrical analyses, circuit simulation, component sizing and selection, create electrical schematics, and PCB layouts. Support engineering trades, estimates, and interact with suppliers/partners on critical components to develop hardware from concept to mass production. Support developing hardware and component-level requirements/specifications. Increase the engineering rigor behind designs, verification, and documentation. Perform prototype hardware and systems in labs. Perform formal verification testing including DO-160 and DO-254. Support BMS software development and testing per DO-178.
If this sounds like the role for you, come make history with us!
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related fields. Minimum 4+ years' experience developing Battery Management Systems (BMS) for Li-Ion batteries. A strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, including circuit design, power electronics, and analog/digital systems. Experience programming microcontrollers and designing embedded systems. Knowledge of C/C++, familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., CAN, I2C, SPI), and experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS). Experience in PCB (Printed Circuit Board) design and layout, including proficiency in PCB design software (e.g., Altium Designer, KiCad, Eagle) and understanding of EMI/EMC principles. System-Level Design and Integration experience, with the ability to conceptualize and implement complete BMS solutions. Experience designing and analyzing inverter and converter circuits including gate drivers. Knowledge and experience with embedded control of power electronic circuits.
