Duties/Responsibilities:

The Senior Engineer will identify, develop, and implement changes that improve site safety, process capability and production volume while maintaining or improving quality standards.

This includes but is not limited to:

Follow and support all site safety guidelines and initiatives.

Promote and nurture plant’s safety culture.

Analyze manufacturing data to identify enhancements to quality, reliability, cycle time, cost reduction, and yield.

Assist with the design, construction and start-up of new or improved production equipment.

Lead the implementation of small capital projects related to process improvement.

Partner with R&D to roll out product scale up and new product introduction in the manufacturing units.

Support manufacturing to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.

Investigate production quality issues to identify root cause and implement appropriate corrective actions.

Work closely with manufacturing to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees.

Own plant P&ID’s and ensures their accuracy and timely update as changes in the field are implemented.

Participate in OSHA PSM program as it applies to job tasks to ensure compliance (MOC, PSSR, PHA, etc).

Working knowledge of OSHA and other safety and environmental regulations

Knowledge of general maintenance methods, operating requirements, and safety precautions

Ability to read and understand manuals and maintain proper records.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Education and Experience:

10-15 years’ experience as an engineer, preferably with experience in production/process area of specialty chemical products

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering

Familiarity with large-scale batch processing including:

Esterification reactions

Neutralization

Washing

Distillation

Steam Stripping (Deodorization)

Filtration

Pastillation or flaking

Experience in Rockwell Automation or other appropriate PLC experience

Experience with continuous improvement

Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM)

Six Sigma or similar training a plus

Physical Requirements:

Located partially in an office and partially in a chemical plant, maintenance, shipping, or laboratory environment.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds; squatting and kneeling.

The Senior Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager or anyone of like status. The Senior Engineer will maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers. The Senior Engineer will be the subject matter expert for the specific equipment and processes utilized at the Charlotte, NC facility.
