Position Type: Maintenance/Custodial/Full-Time CustodianDate Posted: 8/13/2024Location: Warrensburg High SchoolDate Available: 9/1/24Position:CustodianTo Whom Responsible:Building Administrator and Head custodianFor Whom/What Responsible:Custodial care of the assigned building and grounds.Qualifications:Degree - H.S. graduate or equivalent desirable, but not required.Preferred Experience:Demonstrates knowledge and ability to perform custodial care of facilities; demonstrates oral and written communication skills for custodial tasks.Primary Responsibility:To provide a safe, comfortable, clean, attractive, and efficient learning facility.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS PERFORMANCE Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons are turned off. Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times. Cleans assigned areas of building. Checks to insure that all exit doors are open and all panic devices are working properly during the hours of building occupancy. Building security may dictate that some doors remain locked from the outside. Ensures these doors can be opened from the inside without a key. Makes minor building repairs as directed by head custodian. Reports emergency repairs needed promptly to the head custodian and the director of maintenance. Reports needed routine repairs to the head custodian. Reports any damage to school property to the head custodian or director of maintenance. Remains on the school premises during scheduled hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and attendance is required by the building administrator or head custodian. Assures security of building after hours (checks windows, doors, alarms, and occupancy). Reports needed supplies, equipment, and replacements to the head custodian. Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair of building and custodial equipment. Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and safe disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste. Assists with building recycling program. Participates in training programs as provided or requested by the district. Completes duties and responsibilities as assigned by the head custodian or building administrators. Other duties as assigned. Follows policies and procedures of the school district. INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with staff. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with administrators/supervisors. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with parents/community. Conducts self at all times as a representative of the school. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT A custodian is employed for 52 weeks per year. Compensation is according to the support staff salary schedule as established by the board of education; duty hours are stipulated on individual letters of intent. All other employee benefits are as provided for full-time or part-time support staff employees, depending on FTE of assignment.EVALUATION Performance of this position will be evaluated by the building administrator and head custodian according to board policies and adopted procedures for support staff members.
