Job Description
PrideStaff is working with an established manufacturing company in business more than 50 years in Palm Beach County, to find an experienced Machinist. To set up and operate machine tools and fit and assemble parts.
Our chosen candidate will possess the skills to:
Determine dimensions and tolerance of parts to be machined, sequence of operations, machines required for the task, by studying the specifications, blueprints, sketches, sample parts, or damaged parts, or descriptions of the needed parts.
Develops new processes and improves existing processes by studying blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Measures, marks, and scribes’ dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut, and enters commands to retrieve, input, and edit computerized machine control media.
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media required.
Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
Sets up and operates machines on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly.
Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part of product to be fabricated.
Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Working knowledge of Lathes, Milling machines, CNC equipment, Precision
Measuring Equipment, Knowledge of Metal Properties and Shop Mathematics.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school education or equivalent, with a minimum of two years job experience as a machinist.
Ability to read, interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, specification sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, operating and maintenance manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
