Description:
As a Manufacturing Technician, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team responsible for producing and delivering high-quality products that impact patients worldwide. We operate 24/7, and the workload is divided between two primary areas: Upstream and Downstream. In both departments, technicians are expected to follow strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintain safety at all times, and uphold our commitment to regulatory requirements globally.
- Upstream: Responsibilities include thawing, scaling up processes, preparing media for cell growth, and maintaining cell cultures, including the setup and breakdown of stainless steel bioreactors.
- Downstream: Responsibilities focus on isolating, purifying, and concentrating products, including preparing buffers, cleaning and steaming chromatography skids, and supporting formulation processes.

Shift Availability
Candidates must be available to work any of the following shifts:
- 12 hr Day Shift: 6:00 am – 7:00 pm (Sunday - Tuesday + every other Wednesday; Wednesday - Friday + every other Saturday)
- 10 hr Day Shift: 6:00 am – 4:30 pm (Sunday - Wednesday; Wednesday - Saturday)
- 10 hr Swing Shift: 3:30 pm – 2:00 am (Sunday - Wednesday; Wednesday - Saturday)
- 12 hr Night Shift: 6:00 pm – 7:00 am (Sunday - Tuesday + every other Saturday; Wednesday - Friday + every other Saturday)
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods (8-11 hours).
- Lifting up to 25 lbs may be required.
- The environment requires gowning (hospital scrubs, bunny suits, gloves, steel-toe boots).
- No makeup or jewelry is allowed in clean room areas.
- Work with hazardous materials and chemicals may be required.
- Occasional climbing of up to 6 flights of stairs within the manufacturing facility.
- Steel-toe shoes provided by Genentech must be worn on the production floor.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Education:
- Degree in Life Sciences or Engineering and 1-year related experience
- Associate degree and 3 years’ experience
- Biotech certification from an approved program
- High school diploma and 5 years’ experience
- Experience:
1-2 years of experience with complex mechanical equipment in the operation of washing, autoclaving, and assembly of parts used in Upstream or Downstream processes is preferred. Relevant industries include pharmaceutical, biotechnology, biomedical, electronic, food, cosmetics, and other medical industries. - Computer Skills:
- Proficiency with basic computer operations, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google platforms.
- Familiarity with PLC-based systems and the ability to interface with computer systems is a plus.
