We are looking for a Legal Counsel who is detail-oriented, adaptable, and collaborative to join our legal team. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct thorough reviews of contracts, company policies, business operations, and product features to ensure they comply with federal, state, and international laws, including gaming regulations and industry standards.
- Provide strategic legal guidance to mitigate potential risks in operations, product development, partnerships, and marketing.
- Identify potential legal challenges early and propose practical solutions to address them.
- Advise on compliance with gaming industry regulations, intellectual property laws, consumer protection statutes, and employment laws.
- Stay informed on emerging legislation impacting the gaming industry to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Ensure adherence to privacy regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other relevant data protection laws.
- Draft, review, and negotiate agreements, including licensing, publishing, vendor, and partnership contracts.
- Ensure contracts align with legal standards and company goals.
- Conduct training sessions for internal teams on relevant legal risks, compliance, and regulatory updates.
REQUIREMENTS
- Licensed to practice law in California (CA) or New York (NY) with strong knowledge of relevant state and federal laws.
- Reside in California and be willing to come into headquarters in Sherman Oaks, CA around 3-4 days a week.
- Strong understanding of general legal principles, including contracts, intellectual property, privacy laws, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Proven ability to provide practical legal advice in a fast-paced business environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including product development, business operations, and management.
- Advanced experience drafting and negotiating contracts, including those related to partnerships, licensing, and vendor agreements.
- At least 2 years of legal experience in the gaming industry, with a strong understanding of its regulatory, contractual, and operational frameworks.
- At least 5 years of legal experience in contract drafting and negotiations.
Salary: $185,000 - $200,000 a year
