Position Title: Accounting Manager
Location: Saint Paul, MN
Land Bank Twin Cities, Inc. seeks a detail-oriented Accounting Manager to be an integral part of the finance team using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to support the financial well-being of the organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing cash receipts, accounts payable, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with GAAP accounting standards. This role requires the ability to work collaboratively with all departments and will report to the CFO.

Land Bank Twin Cities, Inc. seeks a detail-oriented Accounting Manager to be an integral part of the finance team using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to support the financial well-being of the organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing cash receipts, accounts payable, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with GAAP accounting standards. This role requires the ability to work collaboratively with all departments and will report to the CFO.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable
- Assist with cash receipts and process deposits as needed.
- Process loan disbursements and record cash receipts.
- Support all departments in preparing invoices and reimbursement requests.
- Maintain customer records and contracts.
- Partner with staff to manage aged receivable reports and distribution.
Accounts Payable
- Initiate payment for bills, ensure proper account coding, supporting documentation, and dual authorizations.
- Process disbursements weekly.
- Maintain vendor records, contracts, and W-9 files.
- Issue year-end 1099 reporting.
- Partner with property management and program staff to manage property related costs and reimbursements.
Payroll and Benefits Management
- Prepare and process third-party bi-monthly payroll.
- Prepare journal entries for payroll and reconcile benefits.
- Prepare time allocation reports.
- Manage payroll contributions, deductions, and annual reporting.
- Partner with HR on benefits and other processes where HR/Finance overlap.
General Ledger Management
- Manage and prepare month-end journal entries, including prepaid expense, cost allocations, intercompany activity, depreciation, fixed assets, and various banking related entries.
- Conduct monthly reconciliation for bank accounts and credit cards, distribute reports for approval.
- Sync transactions between Sage Intacct Accounting Software and other third-party software (Financial Institutions, DownHome Loan Manager, Bill.com, Divvy, Re-Leased, CRM, PPM, etc.).
- Prepare monthly reports for staff, investors, and other stakeholders.
- Partner with CFO to close each month and prepare financial reports.
Audit and Compliance
- Assist with annual financial audit and other funder compliance reporting requirements as needed.
- Prepare year-end closing entries.
- Prepare quarterly disbursement reports and distribute reports for approval.
- Assist with contract management and performance schedules.
- Assist with the cashflow management, budget and forecast preparation.
- Assist with 990 and State filings.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 4+ years accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit or real estate sector.
- Excellent computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, strong Excel skills, database/CRM, and accounting software: Sage Intacct, DownHome Loan Manager, Bill.com, Divvy, Re-Leased.
- Thorough understanding of accounting rules and procedures, including GAAP, fund accounting, and contract management.
- Exceptional organizational skills, self-motivated, able to work independently and alongside team members as required to meet deadlines.
- Possess excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Selected candidate must be able to pass relevant background and credit checks after acceptance of contingent offer
Compensation
Starting salary range: $75,000-$85,000 based on qualifications and experience
