POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accounting Analyst will be responsible for work product related to financial planning, analysis, product costing, and business intelligence reporting while also assuming some key accounting functions and support. This dual role involves providing strategic financial insights through data analysis to support decision-making and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and record-keeping.
This full-time, exempt position reports directly to the Accounting Manager. The work schedule is Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. and work outside of normal business days and hours may be required. Work is primarily conducted onsite in Tumwater, WA. Occasional remote work can be discussed with the Supervisor. Infrequent travel may be required to other local facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
- Product Costing
- Develop a process for determining estimated costs for new products that is complete and reliable.
- Match costs to each stage of production and assign direct costs to the products. Observe production and determine completeness of Bill Of Materials and product sub-assemblies and co-manufacturing costs.
- Analyze data related to freight inbound and outbound and categorize for reporting and costing purposes.
- Update costing for current products quarterly in the roll-up / revaluation process.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Maintain a 13-month rolling financial forecast.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, including preparation of annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Analyze financial trends, market conditions, and historical data to develop accurate financial projections. Analyze actual outcomes to projections to further iterate the basis of projections.
- Financial Analysis/Profitability Reporting:
- Develop and Refine profitability reporting to generate insight into profitability By Customer, By Channel, and By SKU, acting as the key point of contact for gathering and validating information for the underlying calculations.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis, including variance analysis, profitability analysis, and cost-benefit analysis.
- Prepare financial reports and dashboards to management, highlighting key performance indicators and strategic insights to support informed decision making.
- Strategic Planning:
- Support strategic initiatives by providing financial modeling and scenario analysis to evaluate potential business decisions and investments.
- Collaborate with business units to align financial goals with overall business strategy.
- Performance Monitoring:
- Monitor and evaluate financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying areas for improvement and recommending corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain financial reporting tools and systems to track performance metrics.
- Capital Planning:
- Assist managers in developing capital plans that deliver solid ROI and consider alternative approaches (such as lease vs buy).
Accounting:
- A/R, AP, Payroll:
- Act as backup for key Accounting functions, including completing transactions for the areas of A/R, A/P, and Payroll, depending on volume and support.
- Participate in scalability projects to improve the business processes from manual to automated.
- Post credit card transactions, develop processes to eliminate manual data entry and support mass data load.
- Calculate Product royalties.
- General Ledger:
- Manage assigned areas of general ledger accounting, including the recording of journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, and preparation of financial statement templates. This may include inventory reconciliation.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data in compliance with accounting principles and standards.
- Month-End and Year-End Close:
- Complete steps in the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and review assigned accounts, G/L reconciliations, financial statement accounts, and supporting schedules.
- Compliance and Internal Controls:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and communicate internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain accuracy in financial reporting.
- Audit Support:
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in financial planning and analysis and accounting.
- Experience in Manufacturing Accounting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit at a desk for 8 hours per day.
- Ability to walk over varied terrain, which at times is uneven, on an occasional basis.
- Ability to concentrate on a task over a period without being distracted.

- Ability to listen and comprehend simple to complex instructions or directions.
- Ability to engage in both inductive and deductive reasoning.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

- Ability to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
- Ability to work independently; handle multiple projects effectively and meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality.
Wage Range (DOE): $90,000 - $120,000 per year
