Pediatric Pulmonologist

Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY, United States

The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology, under the Department of Pediatrics at Albany College, within the Albany Med Health System, is actively recruiting a pediatric pulmonologist to join the division. The division consists of 2 physicians and 2 advanced practice NP’s who see both inpatient and outpatient, on a consultative basis. We are seeking motivated candidates to join our division. Applicants must be fellowship trained and board certified/eligible in pediatric pulmonology.

The division gets referrals from AMC’s 24 county areas, including upstate New York, western Massachusetts, and western Vermont. Faculty participates in outreach clinics (in Amsterdam and in Kingston, NY), in a multidisciplinary neuromuscular clinic, and in a multispecialty aerodigestive clinic. We are the region’s only accredited Cystic Fibrosis Center (with the adult center next door). We also have monthly BPD clinic for graduates of our NICU who require ongoing pulmonary care. The physicians perform flexible bronchoscopy with anesthesia, and we have our own flexible laryngoscopy equipment available in the office. A full pulmonary function laboratory is housed within the division.

The division works closely with other members of the Department of Pediatrics to provide specialized and collaborative care for patients in the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center. We collaborate with faculty in critical care, neonatology, hospital medicine, and all the other subspecialty practices. Faculty and staff also mentor medical students from the 3rd and 4th year classes at Albany Medical College, as well as advanced practice students from local colleges.

Our Cystic Fibrosis Center has been recognized nationally for our quality improvement initiatives, and by the local chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for our participation in local CFF sponsored events. The CF Center offers care provided by pharmacists, dietitian, child-life, mental health coordinator, case manager, respiratory therapist, nurse coordinator, NP’s, and physicians. We are fortunate to have the Donna Crandall foundation which supports people with CF and their parents with groceries at each visit, and with financial assistance when a need is identified. We also participate in the CFF therapeutics development network, performing clinical trials for CF therapies.

Board certification or eligibility in pediatric pulmonology is preferred and salary ranges from $190,000 to $200,000, commensurate with experience.
