Indiana University Health is seeking a BC/BE Orthopedic Surgeon with Fellowship training in Sports Medicine to serve as Chief Orthopedic Officer (head team physician) for Indiana University's NCAA Division 1 Big Ten Athletic Department. The candidate will join an established Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine division comprised of 7 sub-specialty surgeons, 2 general orthopedic surgeons, 5 primary care sports medicine physicians and 14 advanced practice providers at their Bloomington, Indiana practice location. The division is part of a 5000+ provider state-wide multi-specialty employed physician group with a large referral base. The position will include a combination of community based orthopedic surgery and duties associated with Indiana University athletics, including game coverage, training rooms and travel.
Position Details:
- The candidate will be joining well established collegial/collaborative practice and will be expected to participate in 1-in-9 general orthopedic call (outside of football season).
- Practice locations include a centrally located office building for all providers including an in house 12 provider physical therapy department, a recently renovated surgery center with 6 OR suites, and a brand-new state-of-the-art $557 millions dollar hospital and education facility
- Academic teaching opportunities are available but not required
- Fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine and prior experience caring for a high- level athletic department or professional team are required
- New Graduates are welcome to apply and will be considered but the ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years post graduate practice experience
