Brown University Health has an opening for a Medical Director, Intensivist for Cardiac Surgery in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit. This position requires a physician with expertise in critical care medicine, cardiac care, and managing critically ill patients recovering from cardiac surgery. In this position, you will provide leadership and oversight for the combined care of patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
The successful candidate will function as a champion to help establish and communicate a vision and plan for the CTICU/Critical Care areas. As a partner for transformation and in collaboration with executive leadership across the organization, the Medical Director leads initiatives with an emphasis on clinical protocol and builds to support physician and interdisciplinary care partners in the areas of practice, health care applications, clinical/administrative decision-making, research, and quality improvement initiatives, education, and resource management.
About the Job:
Directorship of the CTICU to include coverage and management of critically ill cardiac patients in a 14-bed CTICU setting and some additional coverage for a 10-bed CCU.
Guide the management of complex cardiac patients, collaborating with cardiac surgeons and cardiologists, and directing quality improvement and educational initiatives.
Work closely with a dedicated team of 5 full-time cardiac surgeons and 15+ experienced cardiac surgical care advanced practice providers.
Lead, mentor, and train clinical initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes in the CTICU to foster a culture of excellence.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Management of Mechanical Circulatory Support to include Impella, LVAD, and ECMO.
Brown University Academic Appointment.
PSLF eligible.

About You:
Board certification or eligible in Critical Care (Emergency, Pulmonary, Anesthesiology, Surgical, and/or Cardiology).
Experience working in a cardiac surgery critical care setting.
Experience managing patients with Mechanical Circulatory Support.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Commitment to quality improvement and patient-centered care.
