Position Description
Under the guidance of Executive Director, the incumbent has the primary responsibilities for developing the integrated evidence strategy, and overall Real World Evidence strategies, for vaccines on a worldwide basis and for planning and implementing Outcomes Research and Real World Evidence studies to meet the value evidence needs of public health agencies, health systems, and clinicians.
This role will focus on development of research that is relevant to vaccination policy and practice, including methodology to assess the value of vaccines, research to support vaccination policy initiatives, research on vaccine acceptance, and related cross-cutting topics in the field. This includes direct interactions with public health agencies, infectious disease experts and country affiliates to obtain in-depth understanding of country-specific evidence needs related to the topic and all phases of outcomes research including design and implementation of retrospective database studies, assessment of patient reported outcomes, epidemiological studies and economic modeling.
The incumbent contributes to product development and commercial strategies to ensure that the value of vaccination is consistently defined and developed.
The Director also works closely with other colleagues in outcomes research, Franchise Teams, Regional Product Directors, country affiliates, Global Market Access, and Global Medical and Scientific Affairs to ensure outcomes research programs are consistent with research priorities in key countries.
Job Duties:
Represents OR on one or more Value and Implementation teams and provides leadership in developing the evidence generation strategies and plans for developmental compounds and obtains cross-divisional senior management approval.
Critically assesses drivers and barriers to vaccine reimbursement and market access and identifies value evidence needs to provide strategic input into clinical and market development programs.
Develops the integrated evidence strategy including HTA/OR strategy and generates evidence to support vaccination funding and reimbursement.
Implements research programs to document the burden and cost of diseases, unmet medical need, barriers to access and value of vaccination as outlined in the outcomes research planning process and generates data on a worldwide basis to support vaccination recommendations and reimbursement.
Develops value evidence deliverables (e.g., global value dossier, health economic evaluations) and their adaptation to generate country-specific data supporting pricing and reimbursement.
Works closely with the other team members to develop outcomes research plans for our Company products based on the regulatory, marketing and reimbursement environments on a worldwide basis, including the local needs of the US Market.
Works with our Company Research Labs colleagues, our Company affiliates and consultants to write, coordinate, and validate as required, study design, protocols, measurement questionnaires, case report forms, data analysis plans, and final reports/publications.
Works with the our Company Investigator Study Program Committee to evaluate outcomes research study protocols for studies in local markets.
Supports our Company country affiliates to understand local needs, adapt health economic evaluations, customize Outcomes Research documents such as local research protocols, and design data collection forms, in collaboration with our Company affiliates and according to local requirements.
Works closely with other departments to effectively develop/communicate Outcomes Research findings/value evidence and support data and consistent messages throughout our Company and to external customers.
Responsible for maintaining awareness of scientific developments within his/her areas of expertise, both in terms of new methodology and new activities to establish communications with key outcomes research opinion leaders.
Leverages other groups within Value and Implementation organization to develop and execute outcomes research plans.
Builds relationships with public health and outcomes research experts worldwide.
Presents outcomes research data at international/national congresses and publishes articles in scientific journals.
Position Qualifications:
Education Minimum Requirement:
Advanced degree (such as MS, MPH, PharmD, MD or PhD) in a relevant discipline (health services research, health economics, outcomes research, pharmacy administration, epidemiology, economics) or related field.
Required Experience and Skills:
5+ years post PhD or 7+ years post Master’s degree of relevant experience in the areas of health economics, outcomes research, market access, HTA or related field.
Demonstrated expertise in the design and implementation of clinical, epidemiological, or health economic studies.
Demonstrated expertise in the fields of outcomes research, health services research, epidemiology or health economics, and/or health technology assessment.
A track record of scientific presentations and publications.
Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Experience in application of outcomes research, health economic, and epidemiology methods for vaccines.
