Position Description
LCG Growth team is seeking an experienced and versatile Software Engineer (Mid) (SharePoint, .NET, SQL Server) to support the operations and maintenance of a variety of critical systems within the Office of Management and Administration (OMA) at the NIH. The Software Engineer (Mid) (SharePoint, .NET, SQL Server) will work with multiple technologies, to ensure smooth system operations and contribute to system enhancements. This role involves supporting several systems such as SharePoint sites as contributing to the development of workflows, new functionality, and the maintenance of existing systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
SharePoint Operations & Maintenance
Maintain the look and feel of SharePoint sites and provide technical documentation and training materials for both end users and administrators.
Develop and implement governance plans aligned with security standards.
Assist with site creation, content updates, and custom workflows.
Respond to service requests, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis.
Maintain compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., 508 compliance) and report deviations as necessary.
Coordinate system migrations and server maintenance.
Provide metrics and track website traffic.
SharePoint Customizations
Design and implement custom workflows for various programs, such as email notifications, approval processes, and reporting capabilities.
Develop forms and workflows to track processes like forms creation, approvals, and policy updates.
Create dashboards to visualize data and provide metrics.
Provide training and conduct testing with stakeholders.
System Maintenance and Enhancements
Provide maintenance and enhancements for various systems, focusing on server configuration, databases, and security policies.
Utilize Agile methodology for development and support multiple releases annually.
Address trouble tickets and provide timely resolutions.
Support system migrations and troubleshoot issues arising from changes in the enterprise system.
Develop application enhancements using .NET, ensuring compatibility with modern browsers.
Work with stakeholders to assess and document business requirements.
Produce wireframes and mockups for approval prior to development.
General System Maintenance
Provide ongoing support for additional systems, ensuring they are operating efficiently and in compliance with organizational policies.
Conduct regular database maintenance, including minor database administration for SQL Server.
Assist in troubleshooting and fixing any issues raised by users.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of software development experience, including significant experience with SharePoint, .NET, SQL Server, and Power Tools. Experience with SharePoint Online, custom workflows, and system integrations is required.
Certifications
Microsoft Certified: SharePoint Developer Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) – .NET (preferred) ITIL Foundation (preferred)
Skills Proficiency in .NET development, including C# and ASP.NET Strong knowledge of SQL Server, including writing queries, stored procedures, and database maintenance. Experience in SharePoint development and customizations (SharePoint 2019 and SharePoint Online). Knowledge of web development standards, including 508 compliance and user accessibility. Strong understanding of system administration and troubleshooting for both development and production environments. Experience with Agile development methodologies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for developing user documentation, training materials, and working with stakeholders. Familiarity with modern development practices, including version control (e.g., Git), DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines. Compensation and Benefits The projected compensation range for this position is $119,400 to $147,300 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. The target salary is $133,300 per year. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
