We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator / Medical Secretary to become part of a reputable healthcare team in Providence, RI. This dynamic position entails overseeing surgical scheduling and delivering administrative support within a clinical environment. The right candidate will exhibit exceptional organizational abilities, demonstrate excellent communication with patients, and possess prior experience in healthcare administration.

Key Responsibilities:
Surgical Coordination:
- Schedule surgeries, confirm dates with patients, and liaise with the surgical team.
- Obtain pre-authorizations and verify insurance coverage for procedures.
- Provide pre-operative instructions and assist patients in fulfilling pre-surgical requirements.
- Ensure all necessary documentation and medical records are prepared and accessible for procedures.
- Coordinate follow-up appointments and arrange postoperative care.
Medical Secretary:
- Professionally manage phone calls, respond to inquiries, and promptly handle correspondence.
- Check patients in and out, verify insurance information, and process co-payments as needed.
- Maintain and update electronic medical records accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinate referrals, manage incoming faxes, and process patient documentation.
- Perform general administrative tasks to ensure smooth office operations.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in surgical coordination or as a medical secretary, ideally within a clinical or hospital setting.
- Proficient in medical terminology, surgical scheduling processes, and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills for handling sensitive patient information.
- Strong multitasking abilities with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Preferred knowledge of insurance verification and prior authorization procedures.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
