Perm - Physician Assistant - Surgery Description: 2 years of Orthopedics PA work experience is required (not including training) Shift choices: Four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts May be assigned to Ortho, General Surgery, Urology, or ENT Provides needed procedures, including assisting in surgery Performs procedures, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic procedures within scope of practice Assists in room setup and turnover Performs other duties as assigned Assists operative team as directed by OR manager and charge nurses Customer-service oriented Assures proper sterile techniques at all times in surgery Effective verbal and written communication skills Maintains confidentiality, thinks and acts independently with minimal supervision Maintains regular, consistent, and punctual attendance at the assigned job location Possesses interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with patients, families, other healthcare staff, and other departments Takes personal responsibility for ongoing educational growth and collaborates with others to provide solutions for continued patient quality Basic computer skills. May require periodic use of a personal computer. Meets criteria for Medical Staff or Allied Health Professional membership and privileges Able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and stretch frequently and for prolonged periods Possesses physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including color vision Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and the ability to grasp and handle objects Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair, or wheelchair May be required to lift up to 75 pounds Must use standard precautions due to the threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids Needs the ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on the telephone This is a permanent, full-time position that requires residency within the immediate local area. Relocation may be required. Compensation and Benefits: Base salary (This represents the rate for an individual with significant experience in this job in a full-time 40 hour per week position).
