Electrical Engineer – (TX P.E. License Required) Located in NorthWest Houston 3-6 month contract with extensions/ conversion to permanent Pay Rate: $55per hour, depending on experience level Key Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.S.) required. Licensure: Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in Texas is mandatory. Technical Expertise: Specification and design of low and medium voltage (LV/MV) transformers, switchgear, motor controls, and variable frequency drives (VFDs). Proficiency in industrial power systems analysis using SKM or equivalent modeling software. In-depth knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and API standards, particularly in hazardous location electrical installations and hazardous area classifications. Responsibilities: Oversee and coordinate electrical engineering for large-scale industrial projects in sectors including midstream gas processing, petroleum refining, petrochemical, and upstream oil & gas. Conduct field and shop testing of switchgear and motor control center equipment. Perform power studies such as load flow, short circuit, relay coordination, motor starting, and arc flash analyses to define industrial plant distribution requirements. Design and apply medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems, grounding, lighting, motor control, and VFD selection. Develop and review electrical design deliverables, including: Wiring diagrams, one-line diagrams, and area classification plans. Power and control cable schedules and related project documentation. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, project managers, equipment suppliers, and clients to ensure the successful execution of project deliverables. Interface with the client’s electrical representative to maintain seamless communication throughout the project lifecycle. Develop scopes of work, detailed design milestones, staffing schedules, and engineering man-hour estimates. Proactively identify and communicate project issues impacting scope, budget, and schedule to supervisors and project management. Ensure designs comply with engineering principles, industry standards, and project requirements. Skills and Attributes: Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
