Job Description This role is responsible for supporting the supply chain effort from a quality assurance perspective to ensure all relevant requirements (X-energy, customer, regulatory) are met and complied with to support the overall schedule for design, construction, commissioning, and operation of the X-energy reactors. Ensures compliance to applicable NRC, DOE, CNSC and ISO requirements related to supplier activities. This includes responsibility for relevant administrative and technical quality decisions. The role applies detailed knowledge, understanding and experience in the functional discipline and its practical application, industry codes, guidelines, and regulations. The role also works with suppliers to reduce quality issues and defects, proactively identifying and managing risks, support supplier/materials qualification, and lead initiatives to assure that applicable requirements are met. Will also actively support safety culture and Quality Assurance activities associated with X-energy’s reactor development related to supply chain activities, graphite irradiation, and fuel qualification. Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities Execute the core tasks and responsibilities, listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, with minimal supervision. Ensure flow down of relevant requirements (CSA N286-12, CSA N286.7, CSA N299, ASME NQA-1, 10CFR50 App B, 10CFR21 etc.) to suppliers by interfacing with engineering/design, procurement and contracts, and suppliers. Support the procurement and contracts in ensuring that the quality related aspects of contracts for items and services are correctly specified and placed with approved suppliers. Ensure evaluation and selection of suppliers: Supplier application assessment forms issued to suppliers. Evaluation of completed and returned supplier application assessment forms. Adding suppliers to the approved supplier list (ASL). Document the scope of supply per supplier. Maintenance of the ASL. Inform the audit team of potential audits of new suppliers. Auditing of suppliers as per planned schedule. Ensuring audit findings requiring corrective action are documented and ensure follow-up to verify appropriate corrective actions were implemented. Identify and evaluate trends in product and process conformity and identify/assign appropriate corrective actions and track and analyze supplier audit data. Review audit findings and non-conformities and contribute to non-conformance close out and troubleshooting and verify the completeness of the delivered quality documentation. Monitor and evaluate supplier performance and make recommendations based on analytics. Interface and support Engineering and Design in ensuring that X-energy has adequate arrangements to evaluate and control suppliers as part of the design, construction, and eventual operation of the X-energy reactors. Management of supplier quality internal and external interfaces and performance. Obtain/Maintain NQA-1, CSA, ISO, and any other international recognized auditor credential as applicable. Ensure that suppliers comply with X-energy requirements and are qualified in accordance with X-energy procedures. Suppliers are evaluated and approved prior to performing safety-related work. Maintain and further develop (where required) Supply quality procedures and processes within the Quality Management System (QMS) to support X-energy’s activities and requirements. The role requires direct involvement in the interactions between suppliers, Engineering & Design, Procurement, 3rd party auditors and Inspection Agencies (IA’s) and as necessary, Nuclear Power Regulators in the U.S. and Canada. Develop a strategy and arrangements for independent surveillance where required, to ensure that it meets specified quality requirements. Develop and maintain the capability to act as an Intelligent Customer for supplier quality assurance activities. Provide weekly and monthly feedback progress reports. Actively supports the safety culture and ensure integration of quality in all relevant processes by complying with the requirements of the Quality Assurance Program. Ability and willingness to travel internationally and domestically for supplier and customer site visits. Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication. Perform other duties as assigned by manager. Job Profile Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math) or related field from an ABET accredited college or university. Additionally, non-STEM degrees (i.e., business management, supply chain, project management, quality, technology associates degrees, etc.) will be considered in conjunction with prior work experience and training on a case-by-case scenario. Typically, five years of experience in a relevant quality assurance role required. Ability to obtain an NQA-1 Lead Auditor qualification under the X-energy QA program. Knowledge in Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) and ISO/IEC 17025 Laboratory Systems. Knowledge and experience applying quality assurance and nuclear manufacturing programs requirements and regulations. Examples of quality assurance requirements include 10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR Part 21, ASME NQA-1, CSA 299, CSA N286-12, CSA 286.7, and ISO 9001. Knowledge and understanding across a broad range of nuclear and manufacturing quality issues.
