Summary
The Data Governance Analyst has the responsibility for performing activities within the organization Data Governance program to ensure quality, integrity, and usability of our data. Activities include but are not limited to semantic mapping of clinical or administrative data, support efforts around data standards including the production of process and standards documentation, metric reporting, and issue identification through validation processes. Additionally, this position will assist Contexture stakeholders and staff in applying their deep clinical data and workflow knowledge to support the development of products and services that transform health care delivery.
This position is based in Phoenix Arizona, Denver or Grand Junction Colorado. Our strategic flexibility allows for local work from home opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Perform semantic mapping of clinical or administrative data to a standard reference terminology
- Identify information gaps discovered during the terminology mapping process; communicate gaps or problems with mapping processes and provide actionable solutions
- Support efforts around data standards that have been applied during all data acquisition and distribution projects as needed.
- Work with source systems and downstream data consumers to apply standard data quality techniques, remediate issues, and assist with implementation of processes to monitor data quality risks, including:
- Assisting to analyze data quality results
- Measuring and auditing large volumes of data for quality issues and gaps
- Assist with the performance of root cause analysis of data anomalies
- Triaging data quality issues
- Evaluating and quantifying business impact of data quality issues and making recommendations for data improvements including required process and system changes
- Assist data analyst perform activities with integration engineers, project managers and account managers in implementing business rules and standards that will detect data quality issues during the data-feed implementation process
- Collect, analyze, summarize, and share information and trends resulting from data quality, integrity, and usability activities during product and service development and implementation processes.
- Assist with the development, documentation, and execution of policies, procedures, and governance that drive the clinical data lifecycle needs of the organization.
- Serve as a steward to Data Governance by participating in working groups and committee initiatives serving as a subject matter expert for domain knowledge of data standards and quality initiatives.
- Prepare product and process data quality reports utilizing identified metrics.
- Assist with the development of data quality policies, procedures, and standards that meet organizational goals, stakeholder expectations, and governmental regulations
- Assist in the development of data, product and service documentation standards including development of guidelines and templates
- Assist development and support visualization of data quality using web-based dashboard and scorecards allowing data sources to review their data quality information
- Supports organizational activities with vendor and client representatives concerning identified data quality issues, and the development and execution of effective corrective action plans Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Maintains knowledge of clinical disease states, hospital care processes, quality measure reporting, and social determinants of health
- Applies knowledge of clinical data and end user workflow experience to influence transformation of health care delivery models
- Participates as a subject matter expert to support education and train internal and external staff as to understanding and applying Contexture data quality management program policies, procedures, and standards
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Skills
- Clinical background (RN, NP, PA, etc.) and experience using an electronic health record system such as EPIC, Cerner, Meditech, NextGen, eClinicalWorks, and Allscripts
- Proven ability to work independently as well as ability to effectively work in a team environment and maintain strong working relationships
- Proven ability to define, plan, organize, prioritize, and manage multiple complex projects efficiently and effectively
- Working knowledge of and experience with quality assurance and quality improvement methodologies, techniques, tools and in implementing data quality principles and processes
- Experience with applying process improvement strategies to clinical workflows that utilize information systems
- Knowledge of state and federal quality payment and improvement programs (I.e., eCQM, HTP, QPP etc.) in the ambulatory and inpatient care settings
- Working knowledge of HL7 v2.x, HL7 v3.x, HL7 FHIR, C-CDA and XDS.b standards and protocols, and IHE standards and protocols
- Familiarity with challenges associated with interoperability of data
- Working knowledge of healthcare clinical codes sets such as LOINC, CPT, ICD-10, SNOMED, RxNorm, CVX, etc.
- You have experience with clinical terminology coding and mapping, and common tool(s)/resources
- Working knowledge of medical claims data formats to include CCLF, 835, 834, etc. a plus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office toolset (Word, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint required, Visio preferred)
- Working knowledge of MSSQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Python
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, embrace change, adjust quickly to changing work demands and shifting priorities, and consistently meet targeted deadlines

Education/Experience
Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related clinical field. Advanced degree in informatics or board certification a plus. Membership in informatics-related professional organizations (i.e., HIMSS, AMIA, ANIA, etc.) preferred.
