Heavy Equipment Mechanic Job Summary

We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance and repairs of heavy equipment in a field environment. You will travel to various locations and make repairs to engines, powertrains, electrical systems, hydraulic systems and various other mechanical systems on equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, off highway trucks, forklifts, and more.

Applicants should be experienced in all aspects of heavy equipment repair ie. Caterpillar, Komatsu and John Deere as well as others so they can successfully identify, diagnose and repair defects.

You must be able to use a pc and or tablet to run diagnostic tests and enter job information.

Heavy Equipment Mechanic Duties and Responsibilities

Driving to the equipment location.
Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance
Inspecting trucks, cranes, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment for proper performance
Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment
Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines
Determine what parts and tools are necessary to make repairs
Complete shop paperwork
Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management
Maintain a clean and safe work area

Heavy Equipment Mechanic Requirements and Qualifications

High school diploma or GED certificate
Post-secondary certificate or degree in engineering OR training as a mechanic (a plus)
5+ years of experience with diesel/heavy equipment repair
Welding experience (a plus)
Manual dexterity
Ability to work alone with minimal supervision
Valid Texas driver's license and a clean driving record
Will require a post pre-employment physical and drug screen
