We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our ball screw manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in CAM software, manufacturing processes, mechanical engineering, and experience with precision components like ball screws. This role is critical to optimizing production processes, enhancing product quality, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including quality, operations, and production to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, they will play a key role in evaluating, sourcing, and maintaining the equipment needed to ensure smooth operations and maximum efficiency.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Manage and optimize the manufacturing of ball screws and related precision components, ensuring all products meet quality, precision, and efficiency standards.
- Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement in cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and product quality. Implement improvements that align with company goals.
- Work closely with design and engineering teams to improve product designs, resolve production issues, and streamline production processes.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts to address production issues, resolve equipment malfunctions, and ensure minimal downtime.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, optimize workflow, and enhance productivity. Lead initiatives that foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Assess current manufacturing equipment, identify machines that should be upgraded or replaced, and lead the selection and acquisition of new equipment that aligns with future production needs.
- Manage and oversee a comprehensive preventative maintenance program, ensuring scheduled maintenance is conducted, tracking equipment performance, and minimizing unplanned downtime.
- Ensure that all equipment and manufacturing processes comply with industry regulations and meet or exceed relevant quality management systems (such as AS9100D, ISO 9001).
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including reports on equipment performance, process improvements, and key metrics. Present findings and recommendations to senior management.
- Proficient in CAM software and CNC machining.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 4-8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly with precision machining or ball screw production.
- CAD software experience.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, including CNC machines and automated systems.
- Experience in equipment evaluation, selection, and procurement.
- Solid understanding of quality management systems such as AS9100D or ISO 9001.
- Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies like Six Sigma or Lean to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
- Experience with ball screw design, assembly, or testing is preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, maintenance management software, and data analysis tools to track performance and manage maintenance schedules preferred.
- Proven experience in managing or improving preventative maintenance programs for manufacturing equipment preferred.
