Job Description

This position includes performing a variety of tasks with a primary focus on disseminating information regarding the clients Housing Choice Voucher Program to several audiences including property owners, participants, political figures, industry collaborators, community members and staff. This position is also responsible for helping resolve issues for property owners and managers with units on the Program, assisting in the execution of briefings, workshops and other events, and providing support to the Owner Services Supervisor when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Deliver formal and informal presentations designed to educate and communicate HCV Program information to current and potential property owners, participants, elected officials, industry collaborators and community members
  • Schedule and conduct owner information briefings and educational workshops
  • Manage outreach calls to/from potential industry partners (real estate agents, schools, investors, neighborhood organizations) for available opportunities to present information regarding the HCV Program
  • Coordinate with staff and subject matter experts to efficiently respond to owner and community complaints and concerns
  • Serve as a point of contact for resolving escalated issues and concerns of owners
  • Represent the HACM HCV Program at city, state, and national events and conferences
  • Attend community and alderman meetings to build and maintain strong relationships within the community
  • Establish and foster community partnerships
  • Prepare monthly and weekly reports
  • Other duties as assigned

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to deliver clear, organized presentations to a variety of different audiences
  • Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, the Housing Choice Voucher Program requirements, policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of Program operations, such as eligibility, rent determination, re-examinations and contract administration
  • Ability to maintain information on ongoing functions and report to supervisor monthly
  • Ability to apply considerable levels of concentration frequently throughout the day
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally, individually and in groups, with internal contacts, and property owners
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal and human relationship skills when working with other departments and clients
  • Ability to effectively write letters, maintain documentation, and complete required forms
  • Ability to manipulate necessary office equipment, computers and peripherals
  • Must be available nights and weekends as needed
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel with a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience working in an outreach or community engagement capacity within the housing industry or related field
  • Efficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, specifically PowerPoint
