Position Summary

The Research Grant Manager (RGM) provides comprehensive research grant services and oversees all aspects of sponsored program (research grant) activity at CUWAA. The RGM reports to the Director of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) and collaborates proactively with the university Office of Advancement related to sponsored program activity.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Locate and communicate research funding opportunities for CUWAA faculty, staff and students
  • Support research project and proposal development, as well as proposal processing, review and submission, award setup and monitoring
  • Oversee contract and subaward review and post-award financial (budget) management including spend down and closeout, and time and effort reporting
  • Collaborate proactively with the university business office to ensure accurate billing/invoicing for federal, state, and other research grants
  • Oversee research annual grant reporting (internally and externally), maintain knowledge of federal regulations such as 2 CRF 200 Uniform Guidance, and monitor Concordia's continued eligibility for federal grants
  • Develop and manage a grant dashboard for CUWAA leadership in collaboration with the Office of Advancement
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations and policies governing sponsored research (e.g., Uniform Guidance).
  • Strong leadership and management skills with experience managing budgets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a complex organizational environment and manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines
  • Experience with electronic research administration systems (e.g., Grants.gov, NIH eRA Commons, etc.)
  • Track record of securing and managing research grants and contracts
  • Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, research administration, or related field; Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in sponsored programs/research grant administration

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt (salary) staff position. The starting wage is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience. Concordia University benefit options include, but are not limited to the following:
