Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer – Fiber Optic Assemblies

Location: Williamsburg, VA

Role Summary:

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer with expertise or a strong interest in fiber optics, optical lasers, or precision metrology to play a key role in our manufacturing operations. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the development and optimization of sophisticated optical and mechanical systems.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze current manufacturing workflows to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements.
  • Develop, validate, and refine processes for the assembly of optical and mechanical products.
  • Design and implement custom jigs, fixtures, and tools to meet precision requirements.
  • Enhance the performance of measurement systems and quality control tools to improve output and consistency.
  • Provide hands-on support for prototype builds and train technicians in specialized manufacturing techniques.
  • Document production processes, creating comprehensive guides with visuals for reference.
  • Validate and test production methods, evaluating their capabilities for scalability and efficiency.
  • Research and integrate advanced manufacturing equipment and technologies to align with production goals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process-related challenges to maintain seamless operations.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to boost productivity and quality standards.
  • Serve as an expert in specialized fabrication and manufacturing methodologies.
  • Contribute to risk management processes, including the development of control plans and PFMEAs.
  • Perform feasibility and cost-effectiveness analyses for process changes and innovations.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physics.
  • Experience: 3+ years in a manufacturing environment, preferably with fiber optic assemblies or related fields.
  • Skills and Competencies: Strong mechanical aptitude with experience designing and implementing electromechanical solutions.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Effective team collaboration and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, SolidWorks, and other design tools (e.g., NX/Teamcenter) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with FDA-regulated manufacturing or medical production processes.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
