SUMMARY
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, placing, managing and retaining volunteers to support the programs and services offered by Scott Carver Dakota CAP Agency, Inc. This position ensures that volunteers are effectively integrated into the agency's mission, supporting its goals to empower individuals, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for self-reliance.

Volunteer Recruitment and Outreach:
- Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies to attract a diverse group of volunteers.
- Build partnerships with local organizations, schools, and community groups to promote volunteer opportunities.
- Attend community events and networking opportunities to increase awareness of the agency's volunteer needs.
- Connect and screen potential volunteers to ensure alignment with program needs and agency values.
- Match volunteers to appropriate roles based on their skills, interests, and availability.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer information, hours, and assignments using a volunteer management system.
- Develop and deliver orientation and training programs to prepare volunteers for their roles.
- Provide ongoing support, coaching, and resources to enhance volunteer effectiveness and satisfaction.
- Organize regular feedback with volunteers to enhance overall volunteer experience.
- Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer needs and develop position descriptions.
- Coordinate schedules to ensure adequate volunteer coverage for events and services.
- Monitor volunteer activities to ensure adherence to agency policies and procedures.
- Plan and implement volunteer appreciation events and recognition activities.
- Develop strategies to enhance volunteer retention and engagement.
- Celebrate milestones and contributions through awards, newsletters, and social media.
- Track and report on volunteer impact, including service hours and outcomes.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of volunteer programs and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare reports for leadership and stakeholders as needed.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and volunteer management software.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Scott Carver Dakota CAP Agency, Inc.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience coordinating volunteers or working in a nonprofit environment preferred.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid Minnesota State Driver's License required. Access to reliable transportation required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment which requires occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds, such articles as file boxes or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. Ability to drive a motor vehicle and access to reliable transportation in order to attend meetings and events. A job in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with long periods of computer work. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
