Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineer to join their team, who will support an extensive digital modernization program critical to Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Fourth Estate Agencies.
Primary Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain virtual desktop infrastructures within the Azure IL5 and IL6 cloud and connectivity with DoD Fourth Estate Agency environments Support the development and maintenance of privileged access workstations (PAW) Manage VDI resource pools within the Azure IL5 and IL6 environment Create custom virtual desktop images for each DoD agency Monitor and mitigate issues within the VDI infrastructure, working closely with Tier 1-2 service desk personnel Identify opportunities for improvement, including innovations within the VDI domain, aimed at improving the user experience, improving efficiencies through repeatable offerings, and lower sustainment costs Adhere to security best practices and guidelines, leveraging your knowledge of security policies, network security, and data security Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s degree with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance Demonstrated experience designing, building and maintaining VDI environments such as Azure Virtual Desktop, VMware Horizon, Amazon Workspace, Citrix or other platforms Understanding of Federal Government application, server, and network security requirements such as NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMA Ability to work effectively within a distributed technical team, aided by strong written and verbal communication skills Familiarity with the Atlassian suite, including Jira and Confluence Current IAT Level II (or higher) Certification such as Security + or CISSP Preferred Qualifications
Experience delivering VDI solutions for U.S. Government customers Recognized certification such as Microsoft Certified Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty, VMware Certified Professional – End-User Computing
