This position is located in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Asst Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity. Duties

The following are the duties of this position at the

GS-14 . If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. As a/an

Supervisory Equal Opportunity Specialist , you will: Serve as the principal advisor to the Regional Director with respect to the intake and assessment of complaints filed under the laws within the jurisdiction of the Fair Housing Regional Office. Also, serve as principal advisor to the FHEO Center Director on inquiries and/or complaints that need to be processed. Carry out responsibilities under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; Section 109 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; and Equal Housing Opportunity pursuant to relevant Executive Orders. Supervise the intake, assessment, assignment, tracking and conciliation/resolution of complaints received under the following statutes: Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; Section 109 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination Act; and Equal Housing Opportunity pursuant to relevant Executive Orders or other relevant laws. Supervise daily operation of the Intake Branch, and is responsible for overall management of the Branch's case load, which includes: timely recognition and pursuit of situations that require prompt judicial action; directing all aspects of the intake and assess processes for inquiries, claims and complaints ensuring that jurisdictional complaints are assigned for investigation/conciliation; providing assistance and direction to subordinate staff during their work which may include intake, assessment and/or investigation of complaints, preparation of investigation plans, investigative research, the timely collection of information and evidence, the timely and accurate analysis of information and evidence, timely preparation of final investigative reports, and all other duties related to the satisfactory completion of the investigative process. Salary

$119,355 - $183,353/year Conditions of Employment

The official duty station for this position will be in

Boston, Massachusetts . Failure to report to duty at this location may be grounds for a disciplinary action, including removal. Key Requirements: Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. A one year probationary period may be required. A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Analysis and application of fair housing laws and equal opportunity regulations such as the Fair Housing Act, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, Title VI Civil Rights of the 1964, Section 109 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act as it relates to housing, and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Experience in managerial techniques, human relations and skills to effectively address a wide variety of employee, stakeholder, and client issues. Applying the Fair Housing Initiative (FHIP) and Fair Housing Assistance Programs (FHAP), which includes: testing methodologies; FHIP enforcement strategies and operations; and FHAP adjudication processes. Specialized Experience :

For the

GS-13 , you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the

GS-12

grade level in the Federal service.
