Job Summary
This position requires skills and experience in the design and documentation of Electrical & Control Systems used in advanced laser processing equipment for high-precision manufacturing. A strong work ethic, self-motivation and ability to work collaboratively with other Engineering personnel are required to complete challenging engineering tasks. The successful candidate must be accountable to ensure products developed by IPG are responsive to the needs of customers, cost effective and timely.
Job Functions
Responsible for Electrical and Motion Control requirements of Laser Processing Systems Refined (extensive) troubleshooting capabilities and techniques used to support manufacturing, service and departmental peers Analyze product or equipment specifications to determine Application Requirements for end use customer Analyze Processing System safety mechanisms and provide recommendations Development of control schemes for new applications or markets Compile, analyze, test, and research data to establish performance and process standards for newly designed or modified electrical products and systems. Process Control Design, development and troubleshooting experience with multi axis coordinated motion Development, troubleshooting, and validation for power, analog and digital circuits Machine electrical control schematics and design Ability to multi-task and balance multiple projects Directly involved in the transfer of system power-up to Manufacturing Machine specific automation Machine control software Peripheral device interface software Sales and quoting engineering support Service quoting and engineering support Design for Manufacturing Standardization, cost control and schedule reduction Identify multiple suppliers, test and validate equivalent components.
Requirements
BSEE, BSET or equivalent 0-4 years of experience in electrical design and controls engineering Experience with Motion Control systems; Aerotech Motion Control a plus Experience with DC Servo & Stepper motors, and amplifiers Experience with Electrical CAD/Schematic Software; SolidWorks Electrical a plus Experience with Machine Vision systems; Cognex a plus Experience with regulatory compliance such as CE, NFPA 70, NEC, etc... Experience with programming languages such Visual Basic.NET a plus Experience with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio) Strong communication skills (verbal and written) required for interaction within group, customers, R&D, and international colleagues Strong problem-solving/troubleshooting skills
