Job Description
The Department of Cardiac Surgery within the Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director for our Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU).
As the Director of the CSICU, you will be responsible for the clinical and administrative leadership of the unit. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, foster a collaborative team environment, and drive continuous improvement in clinical practices and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership:
Provide strategic direction and oversight for the CSICU, ensuring alignment with the hospital's mission and goals. Clinical Oversight:
Lead the clinical management of post-operative cardiac surgery patients, ensuring adherence to best practices and evidence-based protocols. Team Management:
Supervise, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals. Quality Improvement:
Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Education and Training:
Promote ongoing education and professional development for CSICU staff through training programs, workshops, and conferences. Collaboration:
Work closely with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical departments to ensure integrated and comprehensive patient care. Minimum Qualifications: Medical Degree from an accredited medical school Fellowship training in cardiac surgery, anesthesiology, or similar Board certified (or eligible) in Critical Care Medicine Eligible for an unrestricted California license as Physician Ability to obtain and/or maintain DEA certification for the State of California. Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges. Eligible for appointment to Associate Professor or Professor academic rank in the CSMC Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional collaboration abilities with partners and staff. Proven knowledge and success in clinical skills. Candidates should be recognized for the provision of clinical excellence.
