WSP is currently initiating a search for a
Senior Mechanical Project Engineer
for our
Minneapolis, MN
office location to work with our
Property & Buildings Team. The Senior Mechanical Project Engineer plans and conducts work requiring judgment, independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Successfully completes small to medium engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements. Works closely with the Project Managers (PM) or Senior Engineers for technical review and guidance. Your Impact Prepare basic deliverables and products including calculations, drawings, and specifications Set deadlines and assign responsibilities Examine field conditions as required to support development and completion of projects Design mechanical systems including calculations of heating and cooling loads while adhering to the firm’s QA/QC process Select and layout mechanical equipment such as pumps, chillers, fans, and boilers Develop project specifications Attend meetings with architects, owners, and building managers to discuss future and/or current projects Responsible for meeting the client’s project goals and objectives Assist in business development by pursuing new work including participation in client presentations Assist in the firm’s human resource efforts through training and mentoring junior firm members Enhance the firm’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing internal and external client requests Demonstrate core values and serve as a role model/mentor to all firm members Update job knowledge and technical expertise by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in technical organizations, obtaining certifications in area of expertise, and participating in the firm’s Technical Committee as requested Perform other duties as assigned Who You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline. 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and prior mechanical design experience. Engineer in Training Certification. Comprehensive knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards Strong organizational, prioritization, decision-making, and analytical skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong influencing and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a highly collaborative team environment Ability to consistently set goals and meet deadlines and adapt to flexible responsibilities Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) Experience with Horizon or Project Resource Management software is preferred Ability to meet and exceed client expectations Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in Engineering. Essential Professional Licensure/Certification. Experience managing small to mid-size projects. 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred. Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $93,700 - $124,200 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
