We are in search of Summer Performing Arts Teachers to work in our Summer Camp Program!
Estimated hourly range: $40 - $65.00 (Rate is dependent upon sessions worked, subject to change due to enrollment changes)
About our Summer Program
Summer programs at Harker include a wide variety of academic and recreational offerings. We offer an academically focused TK-5 Summer Camp, the Summer Institute for Middle and High School-aged students, and our English Language Institute for international students. Our summer programs reflect our commitment to providing Bay Area children with a dynamic and exciting educational experience.
Position Summary
Provide a positive environment for campers to learn and develop lifelong skills in the performing arts through classes and rehearsals for a concluding performance. Assists the Summer Conservatory Director and provides support to the students in the classroom. Responsible for maintaining the physical and emotional safety of the campers.
Qualifications
Minimum theater or musical theater BA or Masters preferred. Candidates must minimally be a rising senior in college in a performing arts degree program.
Experience in the classroom as a performing arts aid and/or teacher required.
Directing experience with middle and high school students required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Creates and executes a variety of morning theater academic classes.
Selects casts and directs a minimum 30-minute play.
Develops specific rehearsal goals and organizes schedule.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Supervision of students, with aid from Production Assistants.
Management and security of the RPAC ensuring safety and locking of rooms.
Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements
Extensive classroom and performance background in either theater or musical theater.
Strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate via email and text, use of Google Docs a must.
Ability to lead a room of middle-high school students with control and ease.
Strong knowledge of theater skills, games, and processes.
Ability to collaborate with other directors, costume designer, production assistants, and artistic director and make decisions that serve the entire program.
Working Conditions
Working throughout the RPAC during the day, lunch outside.
