We are rooted in our core values, and look forward to adding talented individual contributors to our team Summary of the Quality Engineer position The Quality Engineer (QE) collaborates with both internal (Sales, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Quality) and external (customers and suppliers) partners on all activity required to effectively meet customer quality requirements. The QE has primary ownership and responsibility for supplier quality throughout FTS operations. The QE plans, organizes, and manages the overall product quality through strategic activities. The QE will develop positive relationships with suppliers and customers. They will demonstrate proficiency when representing FTS and FTS products while interfacing with FTS customers and suppliers. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Performs audits of existing suppliers, including desk audits of quality manuals and data sheets, site audits of processes and systems and annual assessments of performance Completes and communicates supplier quality system audit reports, manages the Corrective Action process for audit findings as required and drives completion within expected timeframe Performs supplier selection related activities for potential suppliers. Develop working relationships with new and current suppliers to ensure performance demands are met Build effective working relationship with customer’s engineering, supply chain, and quality teams Coordinates new product development, process capability studies, first article inspection, validation plans, frozen process plans, and evaluation requests Assists and coordinates supplier recovery plans with internal teams to meet customer demand expectations Assists Quality Assurance (QA) team with inspection / lab equipment setup, programming, and training Assists operations with shop floor process improvement, assembly, and customer application equipment research, procurement, installation, operation, and training Develops, tests, implements, and measures effectiveness of work instructions or best practices for customer specific needs (kitting, assembly, special processing, etc.) Leads product development bill of material (and / or internal process router) creation, process development for both internal and external processes Initiates and facilities resolution of problems related to customer specifications or methods Assists manufacturers through continuous improvement activities for cost reductions, quality improvements, and manufacturing best practices Leads internal teams in effort to meet customer improvement requirements for process changes, process development, manufacturing methods, and source development Assists in the development of other Quality Engineers Provides direct internal support and acts as subject matter expert regarding the performance, capability, application and inspection methods for customer product application, customer product rejections, and customer product resolution Key Competencies To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience 3 years of prior work-related experience or equivalent technical education is preferred. Physical Requirements and/or Working Conditions Position may require walking, sitting, standing, kneeling or bending for long periods of time.
