The Opportunity As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in the design and implementation of infrastructure projects. You’ll work with a team of experts to address complex geotechnical challenges, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that ensure project safety and compliance. This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer with a passion for ground engineering, project management, and mentoring junior team members. What You'll Be Doing Developing and implementing construction and earthwork designs for infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Designing and optimizing earth support systems for excavation and retaining wall projects, considering factors such as soil properties, groundwater conditions, and project specifications. Conducting design and peer reviews to identify potential improvements and mitigate risks associated with geotechnical elements of projects. Performing field instrumentation and analysis to monitor soil and rock structure behavior, interpreting data to inform engineering decisions. Conducting forensic assessments to investigate geotechnical failures and providing recommendations for remediation and prevention. Evaluating foundation options, including shallow and deep foundation systems, and providing design recommendations based on site-specific conditions. Analyzing ground improvement techniques and recommending methods to enhance soil properties and support foundation systems. Designing and evaluating pavements for transportation infrastructure, considering factors such as traffic loading, subgrade conditions, and material properties. Conducting resource evaluations to assess project feasibility, including site suitability assessments and geotechnical risk analyses. Designing rock anchor systems for slope stabilization, rockfall protection, and other geotechnical applications. Performing slope stability and landslide analyses using advanced geotechnical modeling techniques to identify hazards and recommend mitigation measures. Leading or contributing to geotechnical and environmental investigations, coordinating field activities, laboratory testing, and data analysis. Directing, supporting, and mentoring junior staff. What You'll Need to Be Successful Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with the ability to obtain licensure in multiple states. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on construction, earthwork, and foundation design. Proficiency in geotechnical software applications such as GeoStudio, Plaxis, FLAC, and Slope/W. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex geotechnical data and provide practical solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to clients and stakeholders. Demonstrated project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adhere to budget constraints. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in geotechnical engineering.
