Environmental Consultant/Project Engineer

Position Overview Seeking an experienced Environmental Consultant/Project Engineer to join our consulting engineering team. This role involves overseeing a variety of environmental and engineering projects, consulting with clients, and leading efforts to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental due diligence, remediation, and project management, as well as the ability to contribute to our growing portfolio of projects in Northern Michigan. Key Responsibilities Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Baseline Environmental Assessments (BEAs), and remedial investigations. Design and implement vapor mitigation assessments and systems. Provide consulting services for spill response plans, air permitting, and environmental compliance programs. Support brownfield redevelopment initiatives, including grant procurement and regulatory permitting. Prepare and deliver technical reports and documentation for clients. Collaborate with clients and internal teams to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring quality and timeliness. Occasionally assist with asbestos consulting, geotechnical services, and related activities. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, geology, biology, or a related field. 6–20 years of experience in environmental consulting, engineering, or related fields. Strong expertise in environmental due diligence and remediation. Proficiency with tools like Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and GIS. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record. Preferred: Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certifications. Experience with brownfield redevelopment and/or asbestos consulting. Familiarity with environmental regulations in Michigan. Midwest residency or a willingness to relocate to the area.
