Until Filled Primary Job Functions: The Multilingual Department Secretary provides administrative support to help in the efficient functioning of the multilingual department dedicated to the language instruction and multicultural initiatives of the school. This includes managing department records, handling communications, and supporting the department's needs in terms of scheduling, resource management, grant administration, and coordination.
Salary Lane: ADMNC - Hourly pay starting at $22.00.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Assigned Workday Calendar: 206 days (School Year Days)
Job Status: Full-Time (40 Hours per Week)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm
Benefits: Full-time positions are eligible for medical, dental insurance as well as supplemental benefits such as vision, life insurance, disability, etc. Eligible for PERF Retirement.
Paid Time Off Benefits: Eligible
Holiday Pay: Eligible

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required, some college preferred.
- Certification: None is required, but additional schooling, workshops, seminars, and professional association memberships related to English Language Learners are desirable.
- Experience: Similar experience preferred, but not required. Motivation to learn and compensate for any lack of experience is essential. One (1) year of general office support experience and/or related training preferred.
- Skills and Knowledge: Ability to greet visitors, answer multi-line telephones, operate office machines and computers, and maintain organized file systems. Able to prepare and proof documents with accuracy and clarity. Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including, but not limited to: Outlook, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Excel. Candidates with previous experience with the grant application and administering processes preferred.
- Other: Ability to maintain a positive relationship with pupils, staff, parents, and the community.
- Prepare and process reports, correspondence, and curriculum materials.
- Assist with Title II, III, and NESP grant application, administering, and other related processes.
- Assist with coordinating the resources needed for district professional development.
- Maintain online resources for curriculum and professional development on Office 365, district website, etc.
- Assist with evaluation and assessment programs related to identifying and supporting English Language Learning students.
- File, organize, and provide stored curriculum documents upon request. Maintain files as needed.
- Serve as a backup receptionist when scheduled and called upon to do so.
- Assume certain office duties of other clerical staff when absent, as specified by ML Coordinator.
- Be an example of exemplary adult behavior for students.
- Project a genuine care and concern for all students.
- Participate in professional development, as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent and Curriculum Coordinators.
