Position: As NAM - R2R Period End Close Analyst, you will execute General Ledger and Management accounting operational activities for the Americas RSS in Costa Rica.
The Opportunity:
- Performs advanced accounting functions requiring thorough knowledge of accounting methods, principles, and practices.
- Responsible for complex analysis and audits of accounting transactions, processes and interrelationships.
- Identifies complex accounting issues, and researches and recommends implementation plans for new and existing accounting policies and guidance.
- Examines and audits financial statements and documents for conformance with accounting requirements and principles.
- Key contact to affiliates for accounting and reporting topics.
- Serves as an internal resource by sharing best practice and expertise to colleagues.
- May have lead responsibilities for special projects, strategic implementations, etc.
- Responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality system and achieving quality objectives through daily actions.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Leads complex accounting analysis and auditing for assigned area of responsibility. Serves as the subject-matter expert for affiliates served and an internal resource for colleagues.
- Prepare a variety of complex financial and/or cost activities, statements and/or reports including but not limited to trial balances, balance sheets, financial statements, profit-and-loss statements or statements of sourcing and application of funds. Prepares journal entries for entry into the general ledger or cost accounting system on a monthly basis by collecting necessary data, analyzing and/or allocating costs, and preparing audit train support for the journal entries.
- Prepares appropriate commentary or explanations relating to report items of particular interest or significance. Conducts any investigations of the accounts involved. Recommends to management the actions to be taken.
- Supplies or explains data to customers, secures information, or describes data, which could be made available. Provides advice on accounting matters especially when based on well-established principles and practices.
- Ensures that systems and procedures are in compliance with company policies, acceptable accounting practices, and applicable regulations.
- Serves as an internal resource to colleagues and assists in their development and training. Performs other duties and assist or lead with projects as needed.
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or any related field is required.
- Proven knowledge of finance and accounting principles and practices GAAP or IFRS and auditing.
- Knowledge of applications in a computerized environment, including spreadsheets applications, and databases (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, G-Suite, etc.).
- Proven analytical, and accuracy skills. Requires attention to details.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to prioritize and organize work effectively, adhere to tight and established deadlines.
- Knowledge of Finance Shared Services and operational accounting processes and related technology systems (e.g. SAP, Blackline, etc.) is desired.
- Experience working with one or more SAP Modules (i.e. FCC, FI, CO/PA, MM, and FA).
- Strong presentation and analytical skills.
- Ability to perform work with limited direction and guidance.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and multitask, meet all deadlines and manage up.
- Works well with others and follows through to execute all tasks.
- Language: Fluent English & Spanish required, Portuguese and/or French preferred.
- Accounting IAS Certification (i.e. CPA, ACCA, etc.) preferred.
Experience:
- Accounting experience, 4+ years. Solid record of accomplishment in areas such as General Ledger and Management Accounting.
- Prior experience in the Pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
