Position Information
Under direction, coordinate and oversee the Emergency Medical Services Oversight Program in Washoe County; plan, develop and implement policies and procedures for program activities; and perform related work as required.

EMS Program Coordinator Area of Assignment
The Epidemiology and Public Health Preparedness Division of Northern Nevada Public Health is comprised of multiple specialized areas which include Epidemiology, EMS Oversight, Public Health Preparedness and Vital Statistics.
The EMS Coordinator will oversee key activities, including monitoring compliance with the Franchise Agreement for Ambulance Services. This includes tasks such as reviewing call exemptions, analyzing the contents of the monthly District Board of Health (DBOH) report, assisting in the development of the EMS Oversight DBOH report, and contributing to EMS Advisory Board (EMSAB) reports. Additionally, the EMS Coordinator will support the implementation of the EMS Strategic Plan through research, facilitation, and stakeholder collaboration. The role also involves participating in the administration of regional protocols, engaging with the EMS Joint Advisory Committee, and collaborating with the Emergency Department (ED) Consortium to promote cohesive and effective regional EMS operations. The role will serve as a critical resource in emergency response efforts by fulfilling the Medical Service Unit and Health Unit roles at the Regional Emergency Operations Center when activated.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of full-time experience planning and coordinating activities in emergency medical services or in a clinic, hospital, public health agency, human services agency, or public safety agency to include at least one year of experience in developing emergency response plans, monitoring of contracts, quality compliance or budget preparation AND a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, health administration, public health, emergency management or a closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

The Washoe County Employees Association (WCEA) Supervisory covers the Emergency Medical Services Coordinator position.
Background checks will be conducted on selected applicants through the State of Nevada and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Per the Washoe County Background and Reference Checks Policy, new and rehired employees are required to submit to a fingerprint based background investigation. Effective July 1, 2019, the $40.25 fee associated with this background investigation will be paid by the employee (if applicable) and deducted automatically from the first paycheck. Employment is contingent upon the results of the background check, although a record of conviction will not necessarily bar an applicant from employment.
Washoe County requires its employees to reside in the state of Nevada or neighboring California communities such as Truckee, South Lake Tahoe or Susanville as of their first day of work.
Washoe County hires all new employees at the minimum rate of the salary range and eligible employees may receive an annual merit increase of 5% until they reach the maximum salary for the classification. Upon promotion, current Washoe County employees are placed at the minimum rate of the salary range for the higher classification of the new position OR a promotional calculation, whichever is greater.
What Happens Next

- Positions within the Emergency Medical Services Oversight Program must obtain and maintain a Ham Radio Technician License within one year of appointment and must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
- Have previous experience in in EMS operations, policy development, program management, data analysis, report writing, and strategic planning.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- Have strong project management skills, capable of planning, implementing, and evaluating projects to meet organizational goals. They are adept at coordinating resources, managing timelines, and adapting to changing priorities to ensure successful project outcomes.
