Description

The Mental Health Center is seeking a Senior Clinical Psychologist to join their team. This position will be responsible for administering both voluntary and court-ordered psychological evaluations to youth (birth to 17) and/or adults. Fluency in Spanish and/or Somali is desired.

The Mental Health Center (MHC) is a state-licensed outpatient clinic dedicated to offering wide-ranging mental health care. Our team of support and provider professionals provides comprehensive outpatient mental health services to adults with serious mental illness as well as those with co-occurring substance use disorders. Additionally, the Mental Health Center serves children, adolescents, and families, many of whom are involved with other county programs. Our progress toward CCBHC certification allows us to advance our goals of service excellence and the provision of personalized, coordinated, equitable care for persons we serve. We are growing; we're expanding our team as well as our services.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the Mental Health Center, located at the South Hennepin County Human Service Center, 2215 East Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55407, and remotely via telemedicine as job duties require. Staff are required to come on-site for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor or the Mental Health Center leadership may deem necessary (this may include onboarding and new employee training). As much advance notice as practicable will be provided regarding the need to work on-site. Typical work hours are 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; some early evening hours are also possible. No weekend, overnight, or holiday shifts are required. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin.

In this position, you will:
  • Conduct evaluations focused on intellectual and adaptive functioning for children and/or adults suspected of a developmental disability.
  • Provide formal consultation on diagnostic considerations and treatment recommendations to Juvenile Justice and Children's Mental Health Treatment Placement Team.
  • Conduct court-ordered and voluntary psychological and parenting evaluations (training provided), including administration/interpretation of personality and intelligence tests, to provide a comprehensive assessment of an individual's mental health needs and to develop treatment recommendations.
  • Provide informal and formal consultation on diagnosis, treatment, and other psychological issues to other mental health professionals, government agencies, community organization, and/or schools.
Need to have:
  • A doctoral degree in psychology from an APA-accredited program with appropriate clinical training and one or more years of post-doctoral experience as a clinical psychologist in a medical or mental health setting.
  • Licensed psychologist by the Minnesota Board of Psychology.

Nice to have:
  • Experience:
    • Administering and interpreting comprehensive psychological evaluations to individuals with mental illness, complex trauma, substance use, and behavioral disorders and/or developmental delays.
    • Working with persons involved in child protection and juvenile justice systems.
    • Engaging in psychological testing.
    • Working with Epic or other electronic health record systems.
  • Knowledge of early developmental needs, healthy attachment, and healthy parenting practices.
