Position Overview:
The Data Manager and Assessment Coordinator is vital in supporting student achievement and school operations by managing data systems, overseeing assessments, and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who can analyze data, coordinate testing, and provide actionable insights to support instructional and operational goals in a charter school setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Data Management Work closely with the data team members to maintain and update the school's student information systems (SIS) like ATS, PowerSchool, and other data platforms. Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of student records, including enrollment, attendance, and demographic information. Compile, analyze, and report data for internal use and external stakeholders- SUNY, NYC DOE, US DOE. Generate regular and ad-hoc reports to assist administrators and teachers in making data-driven decisions. Manage deadlines for annual data submissions and compliance reporting. Assessment Coordination
Coordinate the administration of state-mandated and internal assessments, including scheduling, training staff, and ensuring proper test security. Serve as the point of contact for all NYS-mandated and NYC DOE-required assessments for grades K-8. Monitor and track student performance on assessments and share high-level insights with the academic team. Communicate testing schedules, policies, and procedures to staff, students, and families. Ensure compliance with all testing regulations and maintain accurate records of assessment outcomes. Collaboration and Support
Work closely with school leaders, teachers, and support staff to align data and assessment practices with instructional goals. Provide training and technical support to staff on data systems, assessment protocols, and data analysis tools. Provide support to data team members as a backup when needed. Other Duties
Assist in identifying and implementing best practices for data-driven instruction and school improvement. Support grant applications and accountability reports by providing accurate and timely data. Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field (Master's preferred). Experience:
At least 2 years in a Data Administrator/Data Analyst role preferably in a K-12 school setting. Proven experience with data systems, student information platforms, and assessment coordination. Familiarity with charter school reporting requirements and state-mandated assessments. Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in data management software (e.g., Excel, PowerSchool, or similar). Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Work Environment:
