Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Clinical Director of the Vision Center, the staff optometrist will provide eye care services to pediatric and adult patients at the Health Center.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Provide optometric services including comprehensive exams, problem-based visits, and contact lens fittings. Order auxiliary testing as clinically appropriate (e.g. visual fields, anterior/posterior segment imaging, corneal topography).

Diagnose, treat and manage ocular conditions, refer appropriate cases to ophthalmology.

Communicate with team members in other clinical and administrative departments to provide continuity of care for patient

Oversee student externs rotating through clinic.

Provide patient and staff education about the importance of regular eye care.

Co-manage post-operative cases with ophthalmology where appropriate

Attend scheduled departmental meetings

Adhere to departmental protocols and health center policies regarding infection control and patient safety.
