Description & Requirements

Womble Bond Dickinson LLP (US) has an immediate opening for a hybrid Legal Practice Assistant/Paralegal in their Columbia office. This individual would support litigation attorneys, so prior experience is needed. Duties will include a combination of complex litigation practice support as well as traditional administrative responsibilities. This position is required to work on-site Monday - Friday during normal business hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES

:

Format and edit litigation documents, for civil pleadings, motions, discovery, trial materials and appellate briefs. All aspects of electronic discovery, including the ability to manage document reviews and productions, i.e., loading and coding documents, bates numbering, logging productions, and searching for documents in Relativity Database. Possess knowledge of federal/state electronic court filing procedures and interaction with court personnel. Attend depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial, and handling logistics, exhibits, assisting in preparing witnesses and experts, and technology needs relating to same Proofread and review all written work, including correspondence, memos, discovery, and court filings. Calendar court deadlines. Organize discovery, research, pleadings, and other relevant documents for attorney review and case preparation. Manage attorneys' client, court, and firm administrative obligations and deadlines. Support attorneys' participation in outside organizations and sponsorship of client development events. Assist attorneys with compliance of firm billing and timekeeping requirements. Review and edit client bills in accordance with client billing requirements. Manage conflicts checks, new client matter openings, engagement letters, and waiver letters. Manage attorneys' travel portfolios, including making travel arrangements, maintaining travel profiles, developing cost effective travel solutions and calendaring travel. Process expense reimbursements. REQUIREMENTS

:

Bachelor's degree and Paralegal Certificate preferred with three to five years related experience in a mid or large-sized law firm. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and to demonstrate the highest level of client service and response. Extremely organized and detail oriented. Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner. Demonstrate ability to communicate in a proficient, tactful, and confident manner with external clients and coworkers. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with electronic document management systems. Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and accept responsibility.
