Director, IT Portfolio Management , a key leadership role responsible for driving the execution of the organization's strategic initiatives and technology roadmap. The
Director, IT Portfolio Management
oversees the IT Program Management Office (PMO), IT Release Management, the Release Train team, and the Scrum Masters team. The
Director, IT Portfolio Management
is an experienced leader in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology and serves as a strategic partner to the CIO and business stakeholders. Responsibilities: IT Program Management Office (PMO) Leadership: Establish and maintain the IT PMO for a portfolio of roughly $10M, providing oversight, governance, and support for all IT projects and programs.
Develop and implement standardized project management processes, templates, and tools to ensure consistent delivery.
Monitor project performance, identify risks/issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
Provide regular status updates to executive leadership on the health of the IT portfolio.
Directs the PMO team in utilization of the enterprise wide Portfolio Management tools to ensure delivery remain focused on the efforts that bring substantial value to the organization.
Owns Strategic Alignment and StakeHolder Engagement, partnering closely with the CIO and business leaders to align the IT portfolio with strategic objectives.
Communicate effectively with executive stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
Champion the value of the IT PMO, Release Management, and Agile practices to the broader organization.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and customer-centricity.
IT Release Management Oversight: Lead the IT Release Management function, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of software releases.
Lead the Scrum Masters and Business Relationship Managers to coordinate release planning and execution.
Collaborate with Leadership and OCIO colleagues to implement processes and tools to track, monitor, and report on the release pipeline.
Accountable for the team's identification and mitigation of release-related risks, dependencies, and challenges.
Ensure all changes being made to the technology environment(s) are shepherded through the change management process in a timely manner.
Release Train Leadership: Manage the team of Business Relationship Managers responsible for aligning IT initiatives with business priorities.
Guide the building of right sized release trains to ensure work can be completed/delivered as committed.
Foster strong partnerships between IT and the business to drive successful outcomes.
Ensure effective communication, collaboration, and transparency across the organization with all levels of leadership.
Champion the adoption of SAFe@Zayo methodologies and best practices. Act as a SAFe coach for roles related to responsibilities.
Scrum Masters Oversight: Provide leadership and mentorship to the Scrum Masters team.
Facilitate the continuous improvement of agile practices and processes.
Identify training and development needs for the Scrum Masters and coordinate relevant learning opportunities.
Serve as an expert adviser on agile methodologies and help drive their adoption across the organization.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration); advanced degree required.
Minimum of six (6) years of experience in Agile leadership, IT Portfolio Management or Release Management.
Minimum of ten (10) years of total related experience.
Demonstrated expertise in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology and its application in an enterprise environment.
Strong project management and program management skills, with a track record of successful IT project delivery.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and complex environment.
Experience with major enterprise-level transformation initiatives and organizational change management.
Preferred Qualifications: Certified SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) or equivalent certification.
Experience leading and managing distributed, cross-functional agile teams.
Familiarity with portfolio planning, budgeting, and resource management practices.
Base Salary Range:
