Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Part-Time (8 hours on Fridays)

Center for Human Development, Inc. is seeking a part-time (8 hours a week on Fridays) Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide direct treatment services to clients with mental health disturbances which includes providing individual therapy, prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications, substance use disorder treatment, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions.
Diagnose and treat mental illness and substance use disorders; work effectively with severely agitated or distressed individuals; prepare clear and concise reports; maintain client treatment and progress records; establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with other employees, other agencies and professionals and the general public as appropriate. Incumbents are expected to work with considerable independence regarding methods and processes. Work is periodically reviewed for appropriateness of treatment and program results.

Gathers medical history, to accumulate information for diagnostic purposes. Provides counseling and teaching of basic health care practices. Prescribe medication and monitor effects. Develops individual treatment plans which may include individual therapy, and prescribing and monitoring medications. Develops individual goals and implements methods to attain those goals. Evaluates client progress. Participates in inter- and intra-agency conferences with staff members involved with the individual's case. Maintains individual case/medical records with session notes and other pertinent information regarding the diagnosis, treatment plan or termination; completes reports as required. .May consult with crisis team on medication related needs and issues. Can participate in precommitment investigations and court commitment of mentally ill persons. Initiates and/or coordinates follow-up care by making referrals to and consulting with licensed medical professionals, other community agencies or health resources as necessary. Can order, interpret and monitor laboratory studies for clients.
QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of professional medical experience. Licensed by the State of Oregon as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive privileges. Must possess a valid Oregon Driver's license and be insurable for client service purposes, travel between business offices, and to attend required meeting and/or trainings. Must pass all criminal history check requirements as required by ORS 181.536-181.537 and in accordance with OAR 407-007-0200-407-007-0370 and drug screening. Thorough knowledge of the practices, principles and philosophy of mental health treatment which may include interviewing and counseling techniques, and its application to the diagnosis and treatment of mentally ill individuals. Thorough knowledge of nursing process and procedures. Knowledge of relevant pharmacology and pharmacological practices, medical, laboratory, and testing procedures.
