Job Category : Other Associate Director of Youth & Young Adult Formation The Associate Director will assist the Director of Youth and Young Adult Faith Formation with the strategic planning and execution of the Youth and Young Adult Department’s mission/plan. The Associate Director will oversee the Catholic Youth Ministry Initiative (CYMI), handling the program's evaluation and reporting to the Director of Youth and Young Adult and Executive Director of the Catholic Foundation. The Associate Director will collaborate with the Director of Adolescent and Young Adult Faith Formation in the training and support of youth ministers and collaborate with other Diocesan departments, schools and ministries in the promotion of youth and young adult formation throughout the Diocese. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Contract and coordinate the professional development company in scheduling the professional development for the CYMI participants. Evaluate local programming occurring in CYMI participants through parish visits, meeting with participants, etc., this includes but is not limited to assessing the program, the youth minister, and all youth ministry in a parish. Organize and schedule an annual calendar for the CYMI participant training and events. Work with Director on a general calendar for youth and young adult ministry. Manage Youth and Young Adult websites and social media outlets, maintaining them up to date with relevant content and events. Liaison with Diocesan Chaplains, Principals, Campus ministers, and other departments. Promotion of local events occurring throughout the Diocese to CYMI participants and other Diocesan departments. Coordinate participation in National Conferences, WYD, and other significant Diocesan events. Assist the Director of Youth and Young Adult in the planning of Diocesan Adolescent and Young Adult events and other related initiatives as determined. Collaborate with Catholic Foundation Program Coordinator in grant submission and compliance. Oversight of formation, collaboration, and professional development of the CYMI participants. Collaborating with other Diocesan agencies and departments as determined by the Director including Faith Formation, Schools Office, and Safe Environment. Represent the Diocese at regional, state, and national level meetings and conferences. Attend meetings as determined by the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry. All other tasks asked of by the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Qualifications

Possess a Roman Catholic theological degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field; advanced degree (i.e., Masters’ degree) preferred. Practicing Roman Catholic in union with the doctrine, teachings, and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church. Possess a valid driver's license and be able to commute to various locations using personal transportation. Significant knowledge of current Adolescent Faith Formation structures and techniques. Significant experience working directly with youth in adolescent faith formation programs. Must be sensitive to the unique ethnic, cultural, and racial diversity of the Diocese of Brooklyn. Awareness and familiarity of current challenges facing adolescents and obstacles to faith formation. Awareness of current adolescent faith formation resources. Familiarity with current technology favored by adolescents such as the internet, iPad, blogs, social media, and a history of using same to promote adolescent faith formation initiatives. Awareness of the perils inherent in current technology used by young people and demonstrating creativity in assisting parishes to educate their young regarding the same. Strong interpersonal, analytical, writing, public speaking, computer, and organizational skills. Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
