ASCEND PROJECT OVERVIEW

Additionally, it includes implementing an advanced analytics platform (AAP), customer experience (CX) and customer engagement platform (CEP).

The new platform, to be rolled out to Alabama Power, Georgia Power and Mississippi Power, will be implemented in phases over the next four years. Currently, we are building an ASCEND organization dedicated to helping the electric operating companies realize the vision for a modernized, efficient, digital customer experience to deeply engage with our customers and provide a more personalized experience. ASCEND will be one of the most comprehensive Customer Service and Marketing transformation initiatives in our company’s history.

JOB SUMMARY: The ASCEND program is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Report Developer to join our team. As a Report Developer, you will be responsible for designing and developing a wide range of reports and dashboards to provide valuable insights to the organization. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to understand their reporting requirements and ensure the timely delivery of accurate and easily understandable reports.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)

Job Experience and Education:

3+ years of experience in report development

Extensive experience in writing and optimizing SQL queries for data retrieval, manipulation, and analysis

Deep experience in designing, developing, and maintaining reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI or similar data visualization tools.

Experience in documenting code to support effective maintenance

Proficiency in data quality and validation techniques to ensure the integrity and reliability of report data

Knowledge of Oracle MDM and Oracle CC&B (preferred)

Bachelor's degree in analytics, computer science, information systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Responsibilities:

Develop, design, and maintain reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using industry-leading reporting tools using Power BI

Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate them into effective report designs

Retrieve and manipulate data from various sources, ensuring data quality and accuracy

Implement and optimize data models to support reporting needs

Create and maintain documentation for reports, including data definitions, report specifications, and user guides

Align with tightly established development and governance standards

Perform root cause analysis on data to identify trends, patterns, and insights

Troubleshoot report-related issues and provide timely resolutions

Conduct thorough testing and analysis of developed reports to ensure accuracy, data integrity, and adherence to business requirements before final delivery

Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in report development and data visualization

Build effective relationships with peers, business partners and customers

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Expertise in report development tools such as Power BI or Tableau

Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and database management

Excellent knowledge of SQL and data querying languages

Experience with data visualization best practices and design principles

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Collaboration skills to work effectively across teams and with stakeholders

Demonstrated ability to translate technical design documents into meaningful, engaging reports and dashboards to enhance management oversight, KPI and performance tracking, and decision making.

Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and tools

Knowledge of energy industry-specific reporting requirements and metrics is a plus
