This Position is for a Director of Academic Success Program and Assistant Professor of Practice with a public university work location in University, MS. Position Description The University of Mississippi School of Law invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Practice whose primary responsibility will be directing the law school's Academic Success Program. Job Responsibilities: Develops and administers the Academic Success Program which includes teaching courses, organizing and presenting workshops, designing programming for students, and analyzing and reporting on the effectiveness of the program. The Academic Success Program includes a summer component for incoming academically at-risk students. Coordinates closely with the Dean of Students, Assistant Professor of Practice for Bar Exam Support, and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to develop programming and individual support for academic success and bar exam passage. Directs the Advising Program, solicits faculty members' participation, and initiates follow-up with students and participating faculty during the academic year. Meets individually and regularly with students to develop and monitor academic recovery plans for individual students and to provide individualized instruction. Promotes strategies to address potential barriers to academic success in diverse populations, including first-generation students, minority groups, and those with identified learning challenges. This description identifies the key responsibilities and expectations for the position. 9 Month or 12 Month Minimum Qualifications: J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school Bar Membership in U.S. (may be inactive) Strong oral and written communication skills. Willingness to attend conferences which may occasionally require travel Committed to the educational mission of the Law School and the University of Mississippi Preferred Qualifications: Preference given to candidates with teaching, tutoring, counseling, and/or other academic experience.
